Temporary installations with repetition, meta-aesthetics, an inventory of art objects with a sense of affinity. A process where Alva Noreen and I work side by side, the line between you and me blurs. In the white color and empty surfaces, there is room for something to happen, a desperation, a longing for more. Decoration and repetition – symmetry and asymmetry. A shared love for materials and scenographic tones.

Dissolving the boundaries between the individual and the group - a state where we coexist, dependent on each other while simultaneously in opposition. We weave, sketch, sew, and draw with the aim of creating something new, together. In the gaps and spaces, we find our way forward and approach each other from a distance. The collaboration begins with a shared dye bath, where we naturally dye the materials together.

Galleri Silk was a collaboration between te artists Alva Noreen and Linnea Dalstrand. Galleri Silk was born in 2019 out of a common interest in the boundary between the digital and the physical. Galleri Silk examined the in between where the analog art piece meets the digital space.

She sipped the bittersweet drink; she is absorbed, wants it, wants to become it. Bittersweet love, painful and lovely at the same time. A limitless exhibition about the individual and the collective, mine, yours, hers. It's about being influenced by each other, observing each other, stealing from each other. Bittersweet (love) 'I want to buy your work and place it in my exhibition' is a tribute to desire and an embrace of jealousy.

Uncertainty is the state of being vulnerable to others. Unpredictable encounters change us, if we even have control over ourselves.
Through cut-outs and sparse threads, we approach each other from a distance, finding our way in the in-between space, filtering you through me. The process begins with a shared dye bath where we dye our material together. The dialogue happens within the material. We weave, sketch, sew, and draw with the aim of creating something new, together. The material is prepared for what will become us, we, ours. Unintentionally, an uncertainty is built into the material—a pendulum swing between the precise and the crooked. Uncertainty is an openness to change, to take a different direction. A collective work where we challenge the idea of the individual by shifting and blurring the boundaries between each other.
Plant dyeing is an ancient process and an important part of the textile craft's history. Through dyeing, we connect with countless groups of women before us who have made the same movements: carrying, washing, mordanting, rinsing, boiling, and drying. With this project, we want to highlight the artisanal and everyday moments that require multiple hands and bodies.
Cut-outs and sparse threads is an artistic project in three parts, with textile materials as its foundation. The first part involves a shared dye bath with the plant madder root. In the second part, we work individually in separate studios with various techniques. The third part consists of a collective installation in the gallery space, with the material created throughout the process.
Everything has a continuation.

Metervara.
